100th Birthday of Miljenko Prohaska!

17.09.2025.

On this day we mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Miljenko Prohaska (Zagreb, 17 September 1925 – Zagreb, 29 May 2014), a great composer, conductor, and jazz musician who left a profound mark on Croatian musical culture!

As a composer, Prohaska built a rich oeuvre spanning jazz, orchestral, and chamber music, and through his work he shaped several decades of the Croatian music scene.

In 2024, on the occasion of this important anniversary, the Music Information Centre of the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall published four of his works:

In 2025, MIC is preparing the publication of Selected Works for String Quartet (Play Strings, Play / I Am Looking Around During the Night / Intima (Intime) / Sebastiana).

In this way, the Music Information Centre continues its mission of preserving and promoting the valuable heritage of Croatian music, to which the oeuvre of Miljenko Prohaska — one of the most important composers in modern Croatian music history — most certainly belongs.
