On Saturday, 3 May 2025, as part of the Lisinski Saturdays concert series, a concert titled New World was performed by the Orchestra of the Music Academy of the University of Zagreb under the baton of maestro Dawid Runtz.

Just before the start of the concert, the audience at the Vatroslav Lisinski Hall was addressed from the stage by Nina Čalopek, Director of the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall, Jelena Vuković, Head of the Croatian Music Information Centre (MIC), and Professor Srđan Čaldarović, Vice Dean (and the newly elected Dean) of the Music Academy of the University of Zagreb. On this occasion, the Croatian Music Information Centre donated 30 of its latest sheet music editions, published during the 2023/2024 publishing year, to the Library of the Music Academy.

In her address, Jelena Vuković emphasized the importance of the long-standing cooperation between Croatian MIC and the Music Academy, based on a shared awareness of the need to invest in education and to systematically support young musicians.

“What we invest in young musicians is what we will receive in return. And this is not just a beautiful idea – it is a tangible reality, as demonstrated by concerts such as this one – outstanding performances by students within, I dare say, the most significant classical music series in Croatia,” said Vuković.

She also added that the Music Information Centre remains a committed partner and supporter of the Academy, with a clear mission: to ensure that young musicians have access to high-quality sheet music and resources that will assist them on their professional path.

“We believe that through the music they create – and will continue to create – they are participating in the making of a new world, just as the title of tonight’s concert suggests. A world that, thanks to them, will undoubtedly be better and more beautiful,” she concluded.

That evening also saw the announcement of the new MUZA residents – young musicians who will have the opportunity to perform and present solo recitals at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall during the 2025/2026 season, reaffirming the Hall’s ongoing commitment to supporting artists of all generations, with a strong focus on the young.
