The Music Information Centre of the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall took part in the annual conference and general assembly of the International Association of Music Information Centres (IAMIC), held in Belgrade from 23 to 26 September 2025.
MIC was represented at the conference by Jelena Vuković, Head of MIC, Ivor Zidarić, Marketing Advisor, and Davor Merkaš, Editorial Advisor.
Over the four-day programme, hosted at the creative hub Ložionica, our representatives attended a wide range of lectures, panels, and workshops. Among the highlights was the two-part panel “Culture, Populism, and the Power of Music” led by German musicologist Michael Custodis. Several IAMIC member projects were also presented, including innovative approaches to the use of artificial intelligence in mapping live music ecosystems, as well as initiatives for the preservation and promotion of traditional and world music practices.
The programme was enriched with concerts and cultural events – from performances by leading Serbian artists in the Living Heritage opening concert, to a visit to the legendary Electronic Studio of Radio Belgrade and the concert by Vladimir Korać and Luka Lopičić, culminating with the closing evening in Belgrade’s Skadarlija quarter.
The conference concluded with the IAMIC General Assembly, which confirmed plans for future conferences – in Ireland (2026) and Lithuania (2027) – and included the election of new IAMIC board members.
For the Music Information Centre, participation in such an international gathering was an invaluable opportunity to present our work, strengthen connections with colleagues from around the world, and gain insight into current trends and challenges faced by music information centres globally.
