From the Publishing Catalogue of the Music Information Centre to the Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra and Choir – 27 September 2025

On Saturday, 27 September 2025, immediately before the opening concert of the new season of the “Lisinski Saturdays” cycle by the Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Pascal Rophé, with organist Thierry Escaich as soloist, a ceremonial presentation of scores published by the Music Information Centre was held at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall.

The audience was addressed by the Director of the Lisinski Concert Hall, Nina Čalopek, and the Head of the Music Information Centre, Jelena Vuković, who in her speech emphasized the shared mission of HRT’s ensembles and the MIC: the preservation and promotion of Croatia’s musical heritage.

“The Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra and Choir are the pride of our culture: they preserve, shape, and disseminate Croatian music on concert stages, over the airwaves, on sound carriers, and digital platforms. We recognize the same mission in our Music Information Centre, aware that only through scores can music truly be reborn again and again. That is why our publishing work—collecting, editing, and publishing sheet music—becomes the foundation upon which music lives, for without scores there is no performance,” said Vuković.

The donation comprises 83 titles from the MIC catalogue: symphonic, concertante, and operatic scores. Among them are works by Dora Pejačević, Boris Papandopulo, Franjo Krežma, Josip Mandić, Juro Tkalčić, Krešimir Baranović, Krsto Odak, Pavle Dešpalj, Josip Štolcer Slavenski, Stjepan Šulek, and Fran Lhotka, to name a few, as well as orchestral works by Ivo Josipović and Dubravko Detoni.

A special place in the donation is held by operas: Lisinski’s Porin and Love and Malice, Zajc’s Nikola Šubić Zrinjski, and Papandopulo’s Amphitryon. The donation also includes early music titles from the series Opera omnia by Tomas Cecchini, as well as the collections Salmi vespertini and Compositioni armoniche by Francesco Sponga Usper, with the hope that they will also find their place in the repertoire of the HRT Choir.

Finally, Jelena Vuković presented the donation to musicologist Ivana Kocelj, stressing that it symbolizes the lasting role of the Music Information Centre of the Lisinski Concert Hall in supporting Croatian musicians and in building a strong collaboration with the ensembles of Croatian Radiotelevision.
