At the opening of this year’s Interliber Book Fair, we had the great pleasure of welcoming Nina Obuljen Koržinek, Minister of Culture and Media, to the Music Information Centre (MIC) of the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall. On this occasion, we presented the Minister with our long-awaited new edition – Fran Lhotka’s The Devil in the Village, a suite from the ballet for large orchestra.
As one of the last pupils of Antonín Dvořák, Fran Lhotka composed on the foundations of the Czech musical tradition while shaping a distinctive Croatian national musical expression. His work occupies a special place in the history of Croatian music, and this new MIC publication further contributes to the preservation and accessibility of Croatia’s rich musical heritage for performers and scholars alike.
The Minister’s visit highlights the continuous support of the Ministry of Culture and Media in fostering and promoting Croatian musical heritage. For decades, the Music Information Centre has been systematically publishing sheet music by Croatian composers, thus strengthening the visibility and recognition of Croatian music both nationally and internationally.
We invite all music and book lovers to visit us at Interliber – Pavilion 6, explore new sheet music editions by Croatian composers, and discover more about MIC’s long-standing publishing and cultural activities.
