The Sound of Return – MIC Back at Interliber after 43 Years!

The Music Information Centre of the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall (MIC) returns to Croatia’s largest book fair with a special reason and symbolism: after more than four decades, MIC once again takes part in Interliber, presenting its rich tradition of music publishing and contemporary projects that shape the visibility of Croatian music worldwide.

Founded in 1971, MIC has been a key institution of Croatian musical culture and publishing for over five decades. Its mission goes beyond the publication of sheet music – MIC is systematically engaged in promoting Croatian composers and performers, preserving the country’s musical heritage, and presenting it to the international public. In this sense, publishing activity becomes a means to a broader goal: creating recognition and ensuring the lasting presence of Croatian music on the global scene.

Dora Pejačević – A Story of Success and the Importance of Music Editions

In recent years, through a series of publications and projects, MIC has demonstrated how essential systematic publishing is for the visibility and appreciation of a composer’s work. The Dora Pejačević Project stands out in particular, showing how the publication of expertly prepared music editions can be decisive in popularizing a composer. Thanks to these editions and new performances, Dora Pejačević has become the most frequently performed Croatian composer of today – a prime example of how publishing work can act as a catalyst for living artistic interest.

55 Years of Creation and a Return to the Place of Encounter

Interliber 2025 also marks the beginning of the celebration of the 55th anniversary of the Music Information Centre’s founding – an opportunity to remind the public of MIC’s rich history and the path it has travelled since its last appearance at Interliber in 1982. Over the decades of systematic work, MIC has created an impressive library of scores, critical editions, books, and CDs documenting and promoting Croatian musical creativity – from the country’s most renowned composers to younger authors whose works are just entering the concert repertoire.
