The prestigious BBC Proms celebrates the anniversaries of Rachmaninov, Ligeti and our own Dora Pejačević with a series of performances!

The repertoire of this year’s edition of the most important festival of serious music in the world, the BBC Proms, will include as many as four compositions by Dora Pejačević! The artistic direction of the famous promenade concerts put our composer next to Györgyi Ligeti and Sergei Rachmaninoff, whose anniversaries are being celebrated this year by the entire music world! The Festival lasts eight weeks, from July 14 to September 9, 2023, and the works of the most performed Croatian composer will be perfomed during August. Already on Sunday, August 6, starting at 3 p.m. in the Dewsbury Town Hall, we can expect a performance of the composer’s Sonata for cello and piano in E minor, Op. 35 performed by cellist Laura van der Heijden and pianist Jâms Coleman. Until the end of August, the repertoire of the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London will include Dora Pejačević’s Overture, Symphony and Songs for voice and orchestra. Overture in D minor, Op. 49 will be performed by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales under the direction of maestro Jaime Martín on Tuesday 8 August at 7 p.m. The very next day, August 9, mezzo-soprano Sarah Connolly will perform the composer’s four Songs for Voice and Orchestra: Zwei Schmetterlingslieder, Op. 52, Verwandlung, op. 37b and Liebeslied, op. 39. The excellent British singer will perform with the BBC Philharmonic under the baton of her chief conductor, John Storgårds. Finally, on August 14, starting at 7 p.m., the audience in the most famous London hall will be able to enjoy Symphony in F minor, Op. 41 Dora Pejačević. The BBC Symphony Orchestra, led by their chief conductor, Sakari Oramo from Finland, will perform as interpreters. Thanks to the radio broadcasts of all concerts on the BBC Radio 3 and the television broadcasts of selected performances from the Royal Albert Hall, many music lovers around the world will be able to enjoy the concerts!
